Woman sentenced for supplying meth before Oregon inmate’s death

A Umatilla County judge sentenced a Springfield woman to 48 months of supervised probation for supplying methamphetamine to a man who died of a drug overdose at the Two Rivers Correctional Institution on Jan. 8, 2023.

Heather Sutherland, 49, was indicted by a grand jury with second-degree manslaughter, delivery of methamphetamine and supplying contraband, resulting in the death of Edward Paul Dungan, 36, of Creswell, according to court records.

Dungan was serving a 20-year sentence at the correctional institution for firing a gun at an Oregon State Police trooper during a traffic stop in September 2017. For that case, he was found guilty of attempted murder, second-degree assault, felon in possession of a firearm, unauthorized use of a vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and reckless driving…
