Historic Woodlawn Cemetery restoration project will have a ripple effect for people and wildlife

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A stream restoration project is underway at the Historic Woodlawn Cemetery and Arboretum in Toledo, an effort leaders say will have a ripple effect for people, plants and animals.

Woodlawn has been part of the Toledo landscape for more than a century. It is also a place where people come to learn and explore the grounds, which include more than 150 acres of winding paths, quiet waters and more than 100 species of trees.

Mike Young, president of the Woodlawn Cemetery Board of Directors and a landscape architect, said the cemetery is focused on stewardship. “We’re not going anywhere,” Young said. “This is going to stay, so how can we manage that and be good stewards of the land?”…
