NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — North Charleston Police Department officers arrested a 19-year-old Summerville man early Thursday after responding to a reported trespasser at the Patriots Amenities Center pool area, police said.
Isaiah Juan White was charged with possession of a machine gun, two counts of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest with a deadly weapon, simple possession of marijuana, trespassing and theft of electricity.
Police said officers with NCPD’s North Nights Team 1 were called around 5:45 a.m. to the Patriots Amenities Center at 9501 Patriot Blvd. and found White asleep inside the pool area. As officers woke him up, they said they saw a gun underneath him and attempted to detain him.
According to police, White resisted, leading to a physical struggle. During the altercation, police said White reached for the gun, which was on a nearby pool chair, and an officer threw it into the pool to keep him from accessing it…
