OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – An Omaha man received new charges moments after being found guilty by a jury, after he allegedly ran from the courtroom and fought deputies – even attempting to grab one of their guns.
James Gray-Wilson, Jr., 19, is charged with escape while under arrest on a felony charge, resisting arrest, and obstruction of a peace officer.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report, Gray-Wilson was found guilty on Friday following a jury trial for 1st-degree assault and attempt of a class 2 felony for his role in the 2025 shooting of a 16-year-old girl.
The Not-So-Great Escape
The affidavit alleges the following: As Gray-Wilson was to be taken into custody last Friday, he ran instead.
Gray-Wilson ran from the courtroom into the judge’s chamber and then into a hallway after being ordered to stop. He was prevented by law enforcement before reaching the rotunda inside the courthouse.
“Wilson physically resisted but was taken to the ground. While on the ground, Wilson continued to physically resist deputies and disobeyed direct orders,” the report reads…
