Neighbor says overgrown lot pushed him to spend $2,000 of his own money

TOWN AND COUNTRY, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A Town and Country homeowner says he has spent more than $2,000 and roughly 40 hours of his own time over three years maintaining a neighboring property he says is not his — and that repeated complaints to the property owner and the city went unaddressed for months.

Marc Copilevitz said overgrown weeds and grass from the adjacent lot have pushed through his fence, fallen trees have encroached on his yard, and he discovered a black snake after clearing brush — a development he called the last straw, given that he has three small children and a dog.

“It just continually overgrows; the fence is like falling over,” Copilevitz said. “It’s like a continual maintenance nightmare.”…
