Hit-and-run leaves Waterford child injured, family begging for answers

WATERFORD, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A hit-and-run in Waterford last week has left a child injured, and a family pleading for answers. On July 2, 14-year-old Mason Casey was traveling up the road on his electric scooter when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver left him on the side of the road to later be found by a family friend.

“This is not a joke, you don’t wake up and say, ‘Oh, it ain’t going to happen to my kid,’” stated Jamie Casey, Mason’s mother. “Well it happened to mine. Luckily, somebody found him and brought him to my attention. Now, you know, I have a boy that is scared to even look in this direction.”

Casey says that evening started like any normal summer night.

“My son just turned 14 and he got a helmet and a scooter, and wanted to go for a nice ride,” Casey added. “He was coming down riding his scooter with his helmet on. He was over the white line, going to meet his friends down at the village, unfortunately, he didn’t get that far.”…
