ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT) – Albany Police said a 44-year-old man has been charged in the July 5 killing of Iris Vazquez on Washington Avenue.
Officers responded around 1:25 p.m. Sunday, July 5, near Washington Avenue and Sprague Place for reports of a shooting. Police said officers found 39-year-old Iris Vazquez with at least one gunshot wound to her chest, and she was pronounced dead at the scene after treatment by the Albany Fire Department and emergency medical personnel.
Police said investigators identified 44-year-old Vance Mims as the person responsible for Vazquez’s death. Mims was taken into custody Thursday afternoon in Voorheesville by Albany police with help from the U.S. Marshals Task Force…
