WHITING, Ind. — A railroad conductor from Toledo died when he was hit by a train while working in northwest Indiana.
Scott Shoemaker, 57, of the 2200 block of Portsmouth Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident that was reported at 3:52 a.m. Thursday, along the Norfolk Southern tracks in the Whiting area of East Chicago, Ind.
