A Harvey man was arrested after authorities say he kidnapped his girlfriend’s young daughter and used the toddler as a shield after a chase on the West Bank Monday morning.
Sahaan Gilmore, 26, was booked with aggravated kidnapping, cruelty to a juvenile, aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated flight from an officer, said Sgt. Brandon Veal, spokesperson for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The victim, a 1-year-old girl, wasn’t injured during the ordeal which began just before 10 a.m. outside of Gilmore’s residence on Maple Avenue in Harvey, according to authorities.
Gilmore’s girlfriend, a 23-year-old New Orleans woman, told investigators she was parked outside of his residence, removing some of his property from her car. Her daughter was inside the vehicle on the back seat…
