Junction City Police requesting approval for 90-day Flock camera trial

JUNCTION CITY, Ore. – The Junction City Police Department is asking city council to approve a 90-day trial agreement with Flock Safety that would install eight license plate readers inside city limits.

“My job is to protect this community,” Junction City Police Chief Waddell said. “And I think, when there’s technology out there that could possibly save a life, return a missing person, a child that’s abducted, protect our community from harm, it’s my job to at least explore it.”

Eugene and Springfield both entered contracts with Flock Safety in 2025 but ended them in part due to community concerns over privacy, particularly the sharing of data with third-party vendors and federal agencies…
