City of Akron, KAB launch first Litter Letter Project installation

AKRON — The City of Akron and Keep Akron Beautiful (KAB) have announced the launch of Akron’s first-ever Litter Letter Project installation, a new public art initiative that encourages residents to take pride in their neighborhoods while promoting a cleaner, greener and more beautiful city.

The large-scale letters are constructed from chicken wire and filled with litter collected from Akron’s streets. The first installation took place in Prentiss Park, 2043 East Ave., in collaboration with City Councilwoman Tina Boyes (D-Ward 9) and the Friends of Prentiss Park group. The installation features the word “THINK” as a reminder to residents to think about their impact on their environment.

KAB also recently completed a community appearance index that evaluates the amount of litter, illegal signs and graffiti across the city. Three independent evaluators surveyed 63 locations across all 10 Akron City Council wards. The 2026 survey reinforces several important trends throughout Akron, including that litter remains Akron’s greatest community appearance challenge, according to city officials…
