IOWA — An Iowa City man will spend nearly 20 years in federal prison after being convicted of multiple drug-related offenses.
Richard Allen Tuan Casey, 37, was sentenced on Wednesday to 235 months for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine, and use of a communication facility in furtherance of drug trafficking, according to the United States Attorney’s Office-Southern District of Iowa.

Court documents in the case state Casey was selling drugs between at least early 2024 and May 2025. The USAO-Southern District of Iowa stated that two days before he was arrested, Casey traveled to Ames with more than $70,000 to complete a drug deal for 30 pounds of meth.
Casey was arrested after multiple controlled buys of meth by a confidential informant. Law enforcement discovered 22 pounds of meth, a loaded pistol, drug packaging, drug paraphernalia, and cocaine during a search of his property following his arrest…
