There is another hit or miss (mainly miss) opportunity for a pop-up shower or downpour into this evening from central into eastern Kansas. This is aided by the heating of the day. Sundown will effectively kill any rain in our area.
Temperatures remain in a similar stance right now with highs in the upper 80s to the lower 90s. This will be repeated on Friday.
While there is a slim chance for a pop-up shower during our peak heating hours on Friday, there is less of an opportunity as the high pressure system from the north becomes fixated on us for the weekend and next Monday.
High temperatures will reach the middle and upper 90s by the weekend. Wichita may make a run for its first triple digit day of the year on Monday. A front will push through on Tuesday, allowing the high pressure system to head back to the southwest. This may also allow for a few showers and thunderstorms. We will still be greatly under the influence of this high pressure system mid to late next week.
Any subtle disturbances would have a higher chance of producing a splash and dash opportunity for showers and storms farther north. Looks rather spotty and sparse. Temperatures will drop a few degrees, but it will still feel like summer – just not as intense as it will feel Sunday through Tuesday!
