First Alert Forecast: brutally hot end to the week

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Hazy, Hot and Humid skies continue in your First Alert Forecast for Friday and the weekend. Highs will grow to the middle and upper 90s each afternoon with “feels like” values in the stressful 105-110 range possible.

Rain and storm chances will stay low through this period , but a few lucky backyards may luck out with a locally heavy pop-up cell. Better chances for storms emerge for the latter half of the weekend and your WECT Weather App will keep you ahead of any disruptions.

Finally, as the 2026 Hurricane Season enters its second quarter, chances for new Atlantic tropical storm formation also look to stay low with a couple of different prospects, including one that will contribute to rain chances next week. Regardless of development, the risk for rip currents will grow offshore, so keep it safe in the 80-degree surf! We’ll continue to keep you posted…
