Watching a weak tropical disturbance, but heat still headlines the weekend

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The overall forecast for the Mobile and Pensacola area remains on track, with an upper-level ridge keeping rain chances lower than normal through much of the weekend. However, we’re also keeping an eye on a weak tropical disturbance in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico that could have some influence on our weather by Sunday.

Friday and Saturday: Hot, sunny and mostly dry

Expect another pair of very hot summer days with plenty of sunshine and only isolated rain chances.

  • Friday: 10% chance of a brief afternoon shower
  • Saturday: 20% chance of an isolated afternoon shower or storm

High temperatures will reach the mid-90s both days, with heat index values climbing to 105° to 108° during the afternoon. The heat will be the biggest weather concern, so if you’re spending time outdoors, stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, and limit strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day…
