Norman storm damage cleanup continues nearly 3 weeks after July 4 severe weather

NORMAN, Okla. – The City of Norman has issued a statement Friday for citizens going into the second weekend after July 4 storms caused immense damage and knocked out power for thousands.

Beginning Friday, the city and its debris removal contractor will operate seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. This will accelerate debris collection, according to the statement.

Cleanup operations are focused on Wards 2, 3, 4 and 8, where the most damage was observed from the storm.
