Heat, humidity give way to strong to severe thunderstorms across Greater Cincinnati

CINCINNATI (WKRC) — Hot, humid weather will continue across the Tri-State on Saturday before a cold front brings the threat of strong to severe thunderstorms Saturday night.

High temperatures will climb to around 89 degrees, with heat index values reaching the mid-90s before storms develop.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed the Cincinnati area under a Level 2 of 5 Slight Risk for severe weather. The greatest threats are damaging wind gusts, heavy rainfall and localized flooding.

Scattered showers and storms are possible during the day, but the most widespread and potentially strongest storms are expected to arrive between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. as a line of storms moves from north to south.

Conditions will improve quickly after the front passes, with rain ending overnight and skies gradually clearing. Sunday’s forecast calls for partly to mostly sunny skies, lower humidity and a high near 86 degrees.

Humidity will return Monday before another chance for strong storms arrives Tuesday…
