Giglio Feast wraps up annual Williamsburg celebration with final lifting

The sounds of music, cheers and Italian pride filled the streets of Williamsburg Sunday as the annual Giglio Feast celebrated its final day of festivities.

The centerpiece of the celebration is the Giglio, a towering structure dedicated to the feast’s patron saint. During the traditional lifting ceremony, dozens of lifters carry and dance the massive tower through the streets while a band performs from above.

The tradition dates back generations and remains one of Brooklyn’s most beloved Italian American celebrations. Originally brought to Williamsburg by Italian immigrants, the feast continues to serve as a way for families to preserve and celebrate their cultural heritage…
