Starbucks project in Fishersville ends in $2.5 million lawsuit

Plans for a Starbucks at 10 Partners St. near the intersection of Tinkling Spring and Exchange roads in Fishersville have officially fallen through, with the failed project now at the center of a federal lawsuit.

The coffee giant was expected to open at the site in fall 2025. Instead, property developer Fishersville, VA (SWQ Tinkling Spring and Exchange) LLC sued Starbucks Corp. on April 24, 2026, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia, alleging breach of contract related to the proposed location. The case was originally filed in Augusta County Circuit Court on March 24 before it was transferred to federal court.
