Wildwood officials are advising motorists of a pavement rehabilitation project beginning this week in the downtown and central areas.
Designed to strengthen existing roadway structure, improve ride quality and preserve older transportation infrastructure, the project includes portions of the following streets:
- Alabama Street
- County Road 213
- Hence Road
- Lion Street
- Lynum Street
- North Old Wire Road
- Oak Terrace
- South Old Wire Road
City leaders consider the project a strategic investment that will benefit both existing and future generations. Compared to preservation treatments, pavement rehabilitation work is more intensive and expensive, with costs multiplying as conditions deteriorate.
“Wildwood has been blessed in recent years with the resources to maintain newer streets in excellent condition, but that wasn’t always the case,” said city manager Jason McHugh. “Road projects are among the first on the chopping block when finances are tight, ultimately affecting a community’s quality of life in the long term.”…
