Iowa 415 Closure in Des Moines Expected Until Wednesday After Truck Hits Railroad Bridge

DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa Highway 415 in northern Des Moines is expected to remain closed until Wednesday night after a large truck struck a railroad bridge Friday afternoon, officials said.

The crash happened July 17 on Iowa 415, also known as Northwest Second Avenue, just south of the Interstate 35/80 interchange.

According to officials, the impact shifted the railroad bridge off its supporting piers. The highway below the bridge was closed while Iowa Department of Transportation and railroad crews inspect the damage and complete repairs…
