NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The management company of John Knox Towers in Ghent said a plan is in place to repair an elevator that has been out of service since April. That has left the 150 residents in the 12-story high-rise, many of whom are disabled, with just one working elevator.

According to a statement from Lawson Properties, the necessary part is expected to arrive Monday and repairs to be completed by Friday, July 24.
Dr. Bill Newell, a Knox Towers resident for a total of 10 years, said the elevator was only the worst among several examples of deferred maintenance and delayed repairs in the 53-year-old building.
