A Rhode Island fugitive physician who was recently captured after being on the run for more than two decades had been living in Los Angeles, where he ran a biotech company, law enforcement sources confirmed.
Investigators said Dr. Ronald Fischer was accused of raping a woman on his boat, named “Lion King,” in 2003. He was taken into custody by the U.S. Coast Guard on a yacht named “The Silver Lining” off the coast of New York and New Jersey last week, NBC New York reported.
Despite leaving Rhode Island during his criminal trial in 2005, Fischer was convicted in absentia of first-degree sexual assault and has since also been wanted for failing to appear and flight to avoid prosecution…
