Portland officials are looking to restart foreclosures on derelict nuisance properties after more than a year of lax enforcement.
Officials with the Revenue Division are sending a list of problem properties to the Portland City Council to pursue foreclosure. Officials will present the list of proposed foreclosures to the Housing and Permitting Committee on Tuesday. From there, the list would need to advance to the full council.
The presentation comes after The Oregonian/OregonLive reported last month on the lax city enforcement of nuisance complaints that drive the liens. Data reviewed by the newsroom showed nuisance complaints received by city code enforcers fell by more than a third between 2013 and 2025.
