One person injured in shooting in Turnagain neighborhood

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Anchorage Police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured in the Turnagain neighborhood Monday morning.

According to the Anchorage Police Department, officers responded to a shooting around 2:14 a.m. at the 3000 block of West 33rd Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located several shell casings.

A person with a gunshot wound later arrived independently at a local hospital, and police determined it is connected to the same shooting.

“Being that close to unexpected gunshots it gets really, really eyeopening,” one neighbor, Stephanie Hawkins, told Alaska’s News Source.
