FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Five adorable new zoo babies are romping around their home in the African Journey. As the bat-eared fox kits turn 11 weeks old, they’re now just days away from getting their names.
For $5 a vote, the community can choose between different Swahili names for each kit.
“It’s probably one of the most fun ways that there is to support the zoo, especially because we don’t rely on tax dollars to come in,” Fort Wayne Zoo’s Director of Philanthropy Clarissa Reis said. “Our community is not only supporting them, but also are kind of part of their story. Because we can’t do what we do without our community members being involved, and what a fun way! It’s a great opportunity for kids to be involved. Kids don’t have a ton of money, but they might have $5 that’s laying around here, and to have them be able to participate makes it something even more significant that then they can grow up being like, I helped name them.”…
