Man jailed in eastern Kansas on ICE detainer dies at KC hospital

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A man who was being held in an eastern Kansas jail on an immigration detainer has died at a Kansas City hospital.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Office said that on Tuesday afternoon, the 29-year-old man was found in medical distress and unresponsive in his cell. He was taken to Allen County Hospital, where he was placed on life support, and later transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

The sheriff’s office said the man died shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
