FedEx is moving forward with a major restructuring plan that’s bringing job losses to several communities across New York.
The company has filed notices under New York’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act announcing 164 layoffs at six facilities across the state. Most of the affected locations are closing entirely as FedEx continues its nationwide effort to streamline operations.
FedEx Facilities Closing Across Upstate New York
Five of the six affected facilities are closing, while one location will remain open with a reduced workforce.
The impacted locations include:
- Cicero: 22 employees affected (facility closed at the end of June)
- Cheektowaga: 36 employees laid off
- Oriskany: 31 employees laid off
- Binghamton: 31 employees laid off
- Horseheads: 32 employees laid off
- Ithaca: 12 employees laid off
