HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – For nearly 30 years, Joe Moore was one of the voices of NASCAR, making legendary calls for the Motor Racing Network. The former Hampton resident was back on his home turf last month when he was at Langley Speedway and was inducted into the Hampton Roads Sports Media Hall of Fame, along with former ESPN anchor Stan Verrett and NBC’s Ahmed Fareed.
“This is where I started my career back in 1975,” Moore said. “I’ve run into a half dozen people that I remember from back then.”
