RIDGELAND, Miss. (WLBT) – The Madison County Board of Supervisors voted 3-1 Monday to approve an urban renewal plan that could pave the way for a new conference center and resort hotel in Ridgeland, but not without pushback over who will ultimately foot the bill.
The plan authorizes the county to issue up to $48 million in urban renewal revenue bonds to finance construction of a conference center near the intersection of Sunnybrook Road and Colony Park Boulevard. One supervisor was absent for the vote.
Private developer Gabriel Prado, CEO and president of Pracon Global Investment Group, would separately finance a 250-room resort hotel on the same site. Prado says the hotel will not cost the county or the city a single dollar…
