SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Springfield police are investigating human remains found along the James River on Thursday evening, believed to Taylor Stawny, a mother who has been missing since June.
The remains were discovered under a log along the riverbank, just downstream of the Lake Springfield Dam. The Greene County Medical Examiner will work to positively identify the remains.
Search connected to Stawny family tragedy
The discovery was made in the same area where crews have been searching for more than a month for Stawney, 40.
Stawny and three of her daughters were swept over the Lake Springfield Dam on June 14. Missouri State Highway Patrol water crews have conducted daily searches since the incident. Stawny has not officially been found.
