VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Sitting down with WAVY’s Andy Fox for a one-on-one interview as part of the WAVY+ show Inside the Investigation, Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate touched on a number of issues affecting policing Virginia’s largest city.
Neudigate discussed the creation of VBPD’s Real Time Crime Center, technology initiatives and the use of drones as first responders, among other topics. He also outlined what he wants to see from the General Assembly when it comes to pop-up event zones to restrict large, unpermitted gatherings.
“I’m not finding fault with the General Assembly, but I would like them to revisit the legislation that was brought before them that would give municipalities the authority to increase fines, have flexibility with juvenile curfews, hold some of these pop-up promoters financially liable,” Neudigate said. “There are a number of things that we asked for that other cities are implementing successfully to address these serious issues.”…
