MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – The state is continuing road work in Manatee County, with some changes coming along U.S. 41 that will affect drivers and pedestrians.
FDOT, in its latest report on ongoing projects across the state, says crews are in the middle of a safety project on U.S. 41 between 63rd Avenue and 53rd Avenue, with temporary lane closures expected in both directions as work continues.
What’s changing on U.S. 41
The project covers about 1.27 miles and includes improvements aimed at reducing crashes and making the corridor safer for people walking and driving in an area with nearby homes and businesses.
According to FDOT, planned upgrades include:
- New curbs and gutters
- Pedestrian beacons at seven new mid-block crosswalks
- Vehicle detection systems
- New signing and pavement markings
