JOHNSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Every month, Steve Jacques brings his former Star Market colleagues together to catch up over lunch.
The popular supermarket chain was prominent across Rhode Island and Massachusetts up until 1990, when Almacs bought Star Market.
“We took our Star Market jackets off and put Almacs jackets on,” Jacques recalled. “We were looking at each other saying, ‘This is weird.’”
Almacs went out of business five years later, leaving Jacques and his colleagues with nothing but memories from the good old days…
