Red: Italian to bring elevated comfort cuisine to Denton

Underneath a building full of roaring music, colorful spotlights and disco balls, an inviting, softly lit atmosphere entices guests to pull out a chair and order a carefully crafted Italian dinner.

Attached to the side of Ruby Rodeo, a red railing marks stairs to the building’s basement, now home to Red: Italian, a speakeasy-style restaurant at 122 N. Locust St. Created by Flower Mound residents and Ruby Rodeo owners Mike Church and Victor Garcia with Fort Worth resident and chef Denise Gabrielle, the three aim to bring elevated comfort food to Denton.

“We’re excited to bring something new,” Gabrielle said. “We’ve put a lot of passion into it, a lot of thought, a lot of heart. As much as we may physically be here certain hours working, when we’re not […] we’re thinking about things that we want to bring here.”…
