Jackson judge hosts back-to-school drive for students

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A Hinds County Court judge is putting his best foot forward to ensure every child has a successful school year.

Hinds County Court Judge Yemi Kings said it is important to feed into the future of the city’s youth. He emphasized that hosting a back-to-school drive is necessary, noting that no child can ever have too much paper or pencils.

“We don’t want kids to have the stress of just not having what they need, not being able to focus on the task at hand,” Kings said. “So just want to make sure kids, you know, they have their supplies and they’re ready to go for the first day of school.”

Kings believes giving back is always important and made sure to emphasize that the drive was open to anyone, regardless of whether or not they live within Jackson.
