Newburgh woman discovers wrong wedding dress in preservation box after 16 years

NEWBURGH, Ind. (WFIE) – A Newburgh woman says she opened a preserved wedding dress box recently – only to discover the gown inside was not hers.

Laci McCallister had her wedding dress preserved 16 years ago at Big B Cleaners in Madisonville. When she and her daughter opened the box, she first noticed yellowing on the hem, then realized the dress had no straps – and was not the gown she wore on her wedding day.

“That’s when I went ahead and opened it and pulled it out, and then it was like a panic, like this isn’t my dress,” McCalister said.

Cleaner has since closed

Big B Cleaners has since closed, leaving McCallister without a direct way to resolve the mix-up. She turned to Facebook, hoping to find the bride the dress belongs to and to locate her own…
