St. Paul is moving roughly 140 people out of Pig’s Eye Park—and adding shelter beds to make it possible—as the city prepares to close one of its largest encampments.
The Saint Paul City Council authorized a $1.08 million transfer to Ramsey County to expand shelter bed capacity ahead of the August 5 closure. About 80 more people are living across two other major encampment sites citywide, with those closure timelines not yet set—though the city has said it will begin transitioning away from encampments starting in August.
