ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. (WRGB) — Residents on Sumpter Street in Albany were evacuated by boat Wednesday morning after severe flooding overwhelmed the area following heavy rainfall.
Sumpter Street, just off Exchange Street, was completely underwater. Residents and fire crews said flooding is common in the neighborhood, but many had never seen conditions this severe.
Several vehicles were submerged, and multiple homes were partially underwater. Fire crews remained on scene throughout the morning assisting residents as water levels made it impossible to safely walk through the area…
