PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Salem-Keizer Public Schools announced on Friday its plans to consolidate some of its schools, resulting in the closure of as many as eight elementary schools.
The consolidation would begin in the 2027-2028 school year. Salem-Keizer Public Schools (SKPS) officials said the consolidation comes as enrollment in their schools declines and the need to refocus financial and resource efforts. However, they emphasized that no final decisions have been made yet.
