One of Central Texas’ most beloved, bygone restaurants is mere days away from a resurgence as owners breathe new life into a similar restaurant concept.
Shady Grove was a cultural institution in Austin, serving up green chile burgers, margaritas and live music for nearly 30 years along Barton Springs Road. The restaurant first opened in 1992 under the prowess of Chuy’s owners Mike Young and John Zapp, growing in notoriety for its Southwestern-inspired menu and summertime live music performances.
