Firefighters responded to a fire that occurred on the fourth floor of a Eugene apartment near downtown on the evening of Saturday, Aug. 1.
According to Eugene-Springfield Fire (ESF), crews received an automatic fire alarm right before 7:30 p.m. at Bridges on Broadway, a Homes for Good apartment building located at 599 E. Broadway. Shortly after, they began receiving multiple callers to Central Lane 911 reporting smoke in the building.
Based on those reports, the response was upgraded to a full first-alarm high-life-hazard assignment, which involves bringing five fire engines, two ladder trucks, two chief officers, and two ambulances to the scene…
