Phoenix heat reaches record high Sunday with extreme heat expected through Tuesday

Phoenix reached a record high temperature for Aug. 2 amid an extreme heat warning that was expected to last until Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

The temperature at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which the NWS uses for the city’s official readings, hit 115 degrees at 3:02 p.m. MST Sunday, breaking the previous record of 114 degrees set last year.

Sunday also saw a record warm low for Phoenix of 94 degrees, breaking the previous Aug. 2 record of 93 degrees, also set in 2025…
