BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Families gathered to pick up free backpacks, notebooks, pencils and other school supplies at a back-to-school giveaway aimed at helping students start the school year prepared.
Organizers said that while back-to-school events are common this time of year, the need in the community remains high.
