Undocumented man living in Lake Worth convicted on firearms-trafficking charges

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A man who is in the country illegally is being convicted for his role in a firearms-trafficking operation, according to the United States Department of Justice.

According to the DOJ, a federal jury in Fort Pierce convicted a Lake Worth resident and Honduran national, Matute Figueroa, 33, of conspiracy and possession of a firearm by an illegal alien.

Court records and evidence show that Figueroa conspired with four others: Gerson Eliu Padilla-Figueroa, Juan Matute Figueroa, Ariel Henriquez-Padilla, and William Mendoza to acquire firearms in the U.S. through straw purchases, which would then be illegally exported to Honduras…
