CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coastal Bend is mourning the loss of one of its most beloved veterans and community leaders.
Ramiro “Ram” Chavez, who was born Dec. 8, 1945, was a decorated Vietnam War combat medic, founder of the Veterans Band of Corpus Christi and longtime advocate for veterans. He died Monday after entering hospice care following a return of cancer, according to his family.
