Record heat, isolated storm chances this week across New Mexico

Record-breaking heat will continue across parts of New Mexico to start the week, while isolated thunderstorms possible each afternoon.

It is hot out there today! Numerous record high temperatures were broken Monday afternoon, including in Albuquerque, where it reached 101°. Highs also climbed into the triple digits across the valleys, eastern New Mexico and northwest New Mexico. Isolated thunderstorms developed across parts of the state, especially in southwest New Mexico. These storms will gradually end overnight, although a few sprinkles may linger across southern New Mexico Tuesday morning.

Another very hot day is on the way Tuesday, with more record and near-record high temperatures possible. A few additional thunderstorms will develop, bringing an isolated rain chance to the Albuquerque Metro. That should help keep Albuquerque below 100°…
