Scripps layoffs hit Texas as TV news landscape shrinks — what we know

The E.W. Scripps Company has issued a response after MySA broke the news Tuesday that the Cincinnati, Ohio-based media company would be laying off 268 employees at several television stations across the country, including more than a dozen at KRIS 6 News in Corpus Christi.

The wave of layoffs comes as Scripps begins implementing what company executives have referred to as a “transformation plan” that involves automating many newsroom functions via AI as the company seeks to cut costs amid a shifting media landscape.
