HOPEWELL, Va. (WWBT) – A teacher at Patrick Copeland Elementary School has made it her mission to ensure her students have snacks throughout the school day, using her own money and community fundraising to keep her classroom stocked.
Ms. Morris, who teaches first grade, began incorporating snack time into her classroom routine and quickly noticed that many of her students were arriving without food.
Morris initially used her own money to keep snacks available year-round. As costs grew, she turned to the crowdfunding platform DonorsChoose.org to seek help from the public.
