Letters: Been there, stayed here, got the T-shirts

After reading the recent column by accomplished journalist Stephanie Grace, “Landry knows darn well that New Orleans is special,” and the opinion piece by Mitch Landrieu, “New Orleans isn’t a La. liability; it’s an asset,” I decided to write this letter.

I am a 78-year-old lifelong resident of New Orleans. I proudly wear a T-shirt that says “Be A New Orleanian wherever you are.” The slogan became popular among the diaspora of New Orleans residents who moved temporarily to other cities and states following Hurricane Katrina.

Everyone I know said they found no place quite like New Orleans, a singularly unique city…
